Outdoor Sculptural Paper is an intermediate class that explores the possibilities of paper as a durable sculptural material for outdoor spaces. Using a variety of papermaking techniques, we will incorporate found natural objects as armatures and experiment with fibers such as hemp and mulberry—chosen for their strength and resilience. Students will learn how to create sculptural paper forms designed to withstand the elements. We will also explore finishing techniques that enhance durability, allowing these works to live outside for months. This course is a hands-on exploration of how paper interacts with nature, resulting in organic, weather-ready sculptures perfect for garden settings. This class will take place both indoors and outdoors. Please bring appropriate outdoor clothing.

The format will involve one long day and two shorter days to incorporate drying time
